Jason Weaver Calls People Praising Boosie's Release "Coon Sh*t"
After news broke that Lil Boosie had finally been released from prison, fans took to the Internet to celebrate, and while many rejoiced, there were still some people who felt as though celebrating his freedom wasn't the most positive thing to celebrate, and actor Jason Weaver is one of them. He took to Instagram to voice his opinion on so many people coming forward celebrating Boosie's freedom.
Jason believes that many of the people who've joined the "Welcome Home" and "Boosie Back" movement aren't even real fans of Boosie, but rather just simple "band-wagoners" joining in on the Internet trends because they see so many others involved with it. He specifically called all of the "Welcome Home/Boosie Back," comments from supporters on various social networking sites, "coon sh*t." While Jason stated that he in no way intended to disrespect Boosie, (for freedom is indeed a privilege to cherish in life that many people take for granted) he also expressed how he believes celebrating a person being freed from incarceration is wrong because people don't celebrate those who manage to never become incarcerated in the first place.
Instead of honoring a man who's been put behind bars for some sort of crime, or alleged crime, Jason feels as though it would be a more positive message to "celebrate young black men who have stayed OUT of prison," on a more regular basis instead. He wrote a long message expressing his feelings on the ways that the Black community uplifts forms of negativity, but doesn't shed any light on the true positive accomplishments of people who never carry a "street-oriented" image. Jason received tons of support from fans for having the heart to speak his mind, but also got hit with some backlash and criticism as well.
