FLA Arrest Warrant For Chief Keef

MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA – Caught riding in a stolen red Ferrari convertible as he celebrated his 17th birthday, Chief Keef had a quick answer for the Miami Beach police sergeant who asked if he was carrying any weapons.
“I have weed in my right front pocket,” said Keef, according to a police report of the arrest last August.
The sergeant patted down Keef, whose real name is Keith Cozart, and found two clear plastic baggies containing marijuana.
“I want to be honest with you, officer,’’ Cozart said, according to the report.
He was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and ordered to appear in court on Jan. 23.
But there was a problem: By then, Cozart was in jail in Chicago for violating his probation from a gun conviction.
A Florida judge issued an arrest warrant, and it remains in effect and will be served if Cozart should ever be stopped around Miami Beach again, authorities said.
“We would not travel to Chicago for this type of warrant,’’ said Miami-Dade Police Detective Javier Baez.
The warrant adds another chapter to Cozart’s growing legal problems.
This past Monday, Cozart was charged with trespassing at his former home in the Parkway Gardens apartment complex on the South Side.
He was taken into custody after he was served with his second paternity suit while leaving the Skokie Courthouse, where he had just pleaded guilty to driving his BMW 110 mph on the Edens Expressway.
Cozart’s manager Rovan Manuel said he was driving the rapper from the courthouse when Chicago police showed up to arrest him on the criminal trespass charge.
“That was very, very dramatic,’’ Manuel said. “We came out of the courthouse and we were going east to get to (U.S.) Route 41 to go north and they cut us off with their guns drawn. . .They were pointing them at us.
“They took him out of the car and just told us that he was wanted,’’ Manuel said.
Less than a month ago, Cozart was arrested at the Le Meridien Atlanta Perimeter Hotel in Dunwoody, Ga., north of Atlanta, police said.
Security officers told police they had noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the room and called police, who arrested him for disorderly conduct for smoking marijuana, according to a police report.
Cozart declined to come to the phone Tuesday to comment. Manuel said he was playing basketball at the manager’s Highland Park home.
Manuel said he was in Miami with Cozart, helping him celebrate his 17th birthday after he had  performed there.
